Waltz

Developed in Germany in the 17th century, the waltz is considered the "mother" of all modern dances. The waltz is both sentimental and romantic, hence it's popularity for the first dance at weddings. The characteristic "rise and fall" and "body sway" of waltz create a pendulum effect as the dancers move around the dance floor. While the waltz can be danced in place (using the basic box", getting the true effect/impression of the dance requires a fairly large dance floor.
