Cha Cha The cha cha is a lively and flirtatious dance. It has distinctive syncopation (and hip movements) arising from the basic step pattern--5 steps taken to 4 beats of music. The man and woman dance in mirror image to each other. Compared to the romantic flirting of rumba, cha cha has a lighter, teasing mood. While cha cha can move across the floor, it is primarily an "in place" dance and as such, is well suited to crowded club floors. Many pop songs are suitable for cha cha.
